Struggling with anxiety and/or depression? Trying to navigate and maintain relationships while recalling past trauma? Congratulations, this means you’re normal!
While knowing this may not reduce any stress, it’s important to know that the way you are feeling is valid and understandable and you are not alone in your struggles. There are so many things in life that negatively impact what we’re thinking and feeling, from past experiences to current pressures and stressors, from traumatic events to personal devastations…the list goes on.
I’m a therapist who is passionate about walking alongside my clients on their journey to improving their overall well-being. This includes helping them discover for themselves who they are, as well as why they are struggling. Using a strengths-based approach, and help people capitalize on their existing capabilities and successes (instead of focusing only on the “problems” that seem to weigh them down). Humor and a well-timed funny comment is something I love, so bring your jokes (because you can be sure I’ll bring mine).
Worked with clients of nearly all ages and cultures who have had a variety of life experiences. Also have a passion for working with religious clergy, as I have previous experience in ministry, and know all too well the stigma that often surrounds the idea of asking for help in religious settings/vocations. My career began working with college-aged youth, then worked in community mental health with children, teens, and adults.
Other areas I’ve worked are Intensive Outpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and chemical dependency programs. My primary areas of focus include trauma work, anxiety, depression, life adjustment/existential questions and issues, and family counseling. Some of the modalities I emphasize include Internal Family Systems, Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the Gottman Method.
Listening and hearing peoples’ stories is something I truly love, and I would love to hear yours. If you’re struggling with everyday life due to issues related to mental and emotional health, please know that what you’re feeling is valid. Enlisting the help of a professional to restore mental and emotional health isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of wisdom. Seeking therapy is also an investment in your present and future self—a self that can be stronger after having learned the necessary skills and techniques created to help you thrive! Feel free to reach out to me to schedule a complimentary 10-minute consultation, if you believe I may be the professional to start you on your journey to a better, healthier, and happier life. I look forward to hearing from you!
